Bald Eagle Carving in Burlington Ontario

The Carver Kings Paul and Jacob discuss how they are going to approach carving the eagle in the tree. They need to avoid a bit of rot in the stump and it doesn’t take them long to get started seeing their artistic vision.

When a Burlington, Ontario couple reached out to Carver Kings, they had a special request — their beloved 100-year-old Silver Maple tree needed to come down, but they didn’t want to lose it entirely. Paul and Jacob Frenette transformed that moment of loss into something truly stunning: a full bald eagle chainsaw carving emerging from the stump itself.

This bald eagle chainsaw carving in Burlington Ontario presented a unique challenge from the start. The stump had a natural crotch — a split in the wood — that Paul and Jacob used cleverly to separate the eagle’s wings, giving the finished piece a natural, dynamic spread. They also had to work around a section of rot in the stump, planning the design carefully to avoid weak areas while preserving the structural integrity of the carving.

After the main chainsaw work was done, Paul and Jacob switched to woodworking dremels and detail tools to bring the feathers, face, and talons to life with precision. Finishing is critical for any outdoor bald eagle chainsaw carving in Ontario’s climate — they sealed the carving to protect it from weather damage, fungi, and insects. The sealant also brought out the natural color of the Silver Maple wood, giving the finished piece a warm, rich tone. The clients were absolutely thrilled with the result — their beloved old tree living on as a stunning piece of art in their yard.
